Welcome to the website of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.
CIPR President Jay O'Connor
With over 9,500 members, involved in all aspects of communications, the CIPR is the largest body of its type in Europe. The Institute advances the PR profession in the UK by making its members accountable through a code of conduct, developing policies, representing its members, and raising standards through education and training.
Detailed information about the CIPR and its activities is available across this website. A taste of what the Institute is about can be found below:
- The CIPR's professional qualifications are a key part of the Institute's activities. They provide practitioners with the knowledge and understanding of theory and practice to develop as effective and efficient communication professionals.
- The Institute supports the training and development of members through a comprehensive portfolio of events, ranging from breakfast briefings to full-day workshops and conferences. Running courses for communication professionals for over 20 years, the CIPR’s aim is simple – to provide high-quality and professional training to meet the needs of practitioners at all levels. Members are also encouraged to further their personal development through the Institute's CPD programme.
- The CIPR recently introduced Chartered Practitioner status to recognise and celebrate professional expertise. Chartered status is awarded to CIPR members who can demonstrate an outstanding level of professional practice, knowledge and a commitment to continuous professional development.
- The CIPR carries out industry research, produces policies and best practice guides, and publications on key trends and areas of practice.
- The Institute is dedicated to raising professional standards. All members sign an enforced Code of Conduct, demonstrating their commitment to operating ethically, with integrity and transparency. Support and advice is freely available to members, and there are also specialist and national and regional groups providing opportunities for members to meet and exchange views and ideas.
