CPD 2010

About the CIPR's Continuous Professional Development scheme

The CIPR's CPD scheme will launch later this year.

The scheme is open to all CIPR members (except students). We will move to a fixed CPD year, running from January to December annually. Credit will be accumulated in points, instead of hours, and each participant will record at least 60 points per year.

CIPR members can join our CPD scheme free of charge. It is a record of your annual learning and development, completed by accruing points across different activities. CPD is not a training course or qualification itself, but you might like to use your annual record as evidence that you are doing all of these things.

Activities ranging from CIPR workshops, external events, pro bono work, study and mentoring or advising others are all eligible for CPD points and can be recorded in the scheme.

Get started on CPD now...

The new online CPD scheme will launch later this year, and you can start building points towards your first year total now. Start making a note of any development activities you undertake now, as any training undertaken during 2010 can be recorded in order to receive points towards the 60 point total needed to complete each annual submission. Completed records will need to be submitted by December each year in order to maintain your CPD participation.

Accredited Practitioner status

Taking part in CPD leads to Accredited Practitioner status* - professional recognition of your skills and ability. 60 points per year can be claimed towards the Accredited Practitioner scheme, which is awarded on completion of 180 points of continuous professional development.

*Accredited Practitioner status is awarded to CIPR Associates, Full Members and Fellows. Affiliate members will need to upgrade to Associate Membership before receiving Accredited Practitioner status.
