Mentoring has a big role to play in encouraging more people from diverse backgrounds into PR. At Northern Lights PR, we have replicated Taylor Bennett Foundation's internship for black and minority ethnic graduates. It is not just about raising awareness of PR as a career option for people from different backgrounds, it is about genuinely supporting them on an ongoing basis to forge a career for themselves. We are still very close with most of our interns from last year and offer them ongoing advice and support.
I agree that mentoring does play a role in encouraging more people from diverse backgrounds into PR and it would be wonderful to see more organisations setting up internships likes yours and Taylor Bennett's.
