About CPD

To complete CPD this year you need to log development activities worth at least 60 points by 31 December of this year. You can include anything you have done since 1 January this year.

Why do CPD?

Whatever stage you are at in your career, CPD can help you plan and manage your professional development to meet your career goals. It leads to CIPR Accredited Practitioner and is an essential part of becoming a CIPR Chartered Practitioner.

Accredited Practitioners, Chartered Practitioners and Approved Trainers must complete CPD each year to continue holding this accreditation.

Is CPD for me?

New to PR? If you've just graduated or are in the first few years of your career, CPD can help you to keep track of the skills and knowledge you develop to meet each new responsibility and challenge.

Experienced Practitioner? CPD is relevant throughout your career, but it isn't just about adding to your own skills or focusing on traditional methods of personal development. Our CPD scheme encourages experienced practitioners to supporting the professional development of others and use their expertise to strengthen the PR profession.

How does it work?

The process is simple:

  1. Undertake an activity that develops your professional skills and knowledge or helps others develop theirs.
  2. Visit My CPD and log your activity – what you did and what you learned. Upload your evidence and then click to update your CPD record with the appropriate CPD point.
  3. We will send you regular CPD updates and reminders to keep you on track throughout the year.

Finding your way about

When you log in to the CPD area you will find three sections: Dashboard, Activities and Your Report:

  • Dashboard:
Here you will find a summary of your CPD activity to date this year, including your CPD points accrued so far. You will also find quick links to some upcoming CIPR development activities.
  • Activities:
Here you will find a searchable database of hundreds of suggested CIPR recognised development activities. The list includes all CIPR development activities as well as some activities by other providers.

Each activity is tagged by type (in green), provider (pink) and CPD stream (purple). Clicking on one these tags will bring up all the other activities with the same tage.

Once you have completed an activity just add it to your record and answer the evaluation question to submit and sign off. If you have completed an activity that is not included in our database you can still add it to your CPD record by creating a custom activity here on the Activities page.
  • Your report:
This page displays a list of all your CPD cycles and serves as a record of your complete CPD history.
