When you log a development activity on your CPD record you will have an opportunity to upload evidence of your participation or completion of this activity. You can provide evidence by attaching PDF files, Microsoft Office or Open Office documents to your record, up to a maximum file size of 15MB.
Do I need to provide evidence?
- If you are logging a CIPR-recognised activity, providing evidence is optional in 2012.
- If you are logging a custom activity, you must upload evidence. It is required before your CPD record can be accepted and points awarded. See the list below for examples of the types of evidence you can provide for each activity.
Evidence for Stream 1: Developing your communication skills and knowledge
Training events
You will need to provide formal evidence of your participation – for example:
- a statement of participation or from your line manager, HR department or event organiser
- a copy of the delegate list
- an attendance or completion certificate.
E-learning sessions
You will need to provide formal evidence of your participation - for example:
- an email or letter from your line manager, HR department or event organiser confirming your participation
- confirmation of course booking or registration
- confirmation of completion
You will also need to provide a URL for the session.
Reading: books
You will need to provide full details of the book (publisher, title, author) plus a description (at least 50 words) of the relevancy of the book and what you learned from reading it.
Study: full time
You will need to provide formal evidence of your participation – for example:
- a statement from your tutor or course leader
- confirmation of your acceptance on the course
- a completion or results certificate.
Study: part time
You will need to provide formal evidence of your participation – for example:
- a statement from your tutor or course leader
- confirmation of your acceptance on the course
- a completion or results certificate.
Authoring books
You will need to provide a URL to information on the book which clearly lists you as author or co-author.
Evidence for Stream 2: Research, personal development and voluntary work
Coaching, mentoring and shadowing
You will need to provide formal evidence of your participation – for example:
- a statement of participation from your line manager, HR department or event organiser
- a signed mentoring log detailing meetings undertaken and development areas covered or
- a mentoring scheme certificate.
Networking
You will need to provide formal evidence of your participation – for example:
- a statement of participation or completion from your line manager, HR department or event organiser
- a copy of the delegate list.
Reading: short publications
You will need to provide a summary (at least 50 words) on what you learned from reading it.
Research
You will need to provide a research log indicating that you spent at least 14 hours on your research project plus evidence of your research activity - for example:
- a statement from your line manager or research director
- bibliography of source materials along with a summary of research outcomes
- URL to research publication.
Ad hoc learning
You will need to provide a learning log indicating that you spent at least 7 hours on your learning project plus evidence of your learning activity – for example:
- a statement from your HR/line manager/organiser
- a summary (at least 50 words) on what you learned.
Committee participation
You will need to provide formal evidence that you spent at least 14 hours on committee participation – for example:
- official record of committee/board membership
- attendance list or
- meeting minutes.
Volunteering
You will need to provide formal evidence that you spent at least 14 hours on relevant voluntary work – for example:
- confirmation of involvement from voluntary organisation
- record of attendance including a volunteering hours log
Delivering training
You will need to provide formal evidence of your participation – for example:
- a statement or confirmation from organiser
- feedback from delegates.
