Diversity in Public Relations

The first research on the experiences of diverse PR practitioners in the UK has just been completed, and the results reveal a consistent pattern of ongoing discrimination affecting the lives and careers of 'minority' practitioners.

As a result, a one-day conference (PDF) has been organised for senior executives in the PR industry. 'Diversity in Public Relations: Learning from Research and Best Practice' will be held on 7 July 2010 in London. The conference, developed by Dr Lee Edwards, Manchester Business School, hosted by Edelman in association with Ignite.

The programme includes national and international experts in the field. It will help practitioners understand the current experience of diversity in the profession, how the Equality Act defines the responsibility to manage diversity, and how best practice on diversity in other professions can offer inspiration for PR.

Places are limited. To register, email Dr Lee Edwards at Lee.Edwards@mbs.ac.uk with a completed registration form (PDF).
