Membership is open to anyone working, studying or just interested in public relations. There are a number of grades of membership reflecting different levels of PR experience and qualifications so check below to see which description best fits you..
Not currently working in PR but nterested in the public relations profession.
- Associate ACIPR
Currently working in or teaching PR (or temporarily unemployed) with up to two years' PR experience or graduated from the CIPR Advanced Certificate or have graduated from a CIPR-recognised course or have been a Student member of the CIPR.
- Member MCIPR
Currently working in or teaching PR (or temporarily unemployed) with more than two years' PR experience or graduated from the CIPR Diploma or graduated from the CIPR Advanced Certificate with at least one year of PR experience.
- Fellow FCIPR
Awarded by the Institute to existing members in recognition of significant contribution to the Institute or the industry.
If you are studying on a CIPR-recognised course you are eligible for free Student membership. Please contact your course leader for details. The deadline for applications for free Student membership for the academic year 2014/5 is 15 December 2014.
If you are studying on any other UK higher education course lasting at least 12 months, you can join the CIPR as a Student member for an annual fee of £35 (for Student membership until 30 September 2015).

What counts as public relations / communications experience?
Check our list of communications disciplines that count towards Associate and Member grade.
If you are currently working in PR and have more than two years' experience in one of the related disciplines such as journalism or marketing, you can join as an Associate (ACIPR) and fast-track to Member (MCIPR) as soon as you have completed the CIPR Foundation Award, which will help you to make the transition into your new career.
