Jersey Marathon
The CIPR Channel Islands Group will be represented in this year's Jersey Marathon on Sunday 3 October. Committee members Adam Riddell from Crystal PR, Steve Smith from Sure, Katrina Bray from One Strategic and Steve Falla from Orchard will be joined by Brooke de Laune, also from Orchard. They will tackle the 26.2 mile course in stages under the team name CI Public Relay-tions. They will be raising money for the John Uphoff Memorial Trust and the Stroke Association (Jersey) so please dig deep and sponsor them for their efforts.
CIPR Diploma launching in the Channel Islands
From October 2010, specialist international training provider the PR Academy will be teaching the CIPR Diploma in the islands, eliminating the need for locally-based PR professionals to travel to the UK or undertake online learning in order to gain PR-specific qualifications. The Diploma is taught at Masters level and is aimed at those who want to develop their practitioner skills but who also want to underpin what they do with theory.
The course will be delivered over 10 months by a specialist team of tutors and it includes three units of study. The first will take place over two, two-day sessions and discuss PR theory. The second unit looks at PR planning and combines a two-day session with online learning. The final unit, a research project, will be delivered using the latest interactive online learning technology, with the final assignment being submitted in summer 2011.
The PR Academy is the CIPR's largest qualifications centre. It delivers the full range of CIPR qualifications and regularly achieves a pass rate approaching 100 per cent on its courses.
The launch of CIPR qualifications is a hugely significant step forward for the industry locally, making high quality PR education more accessible in both islands and the local industry is encouraged to fully support this development.
