The Marketing Communications Group of the CIPR is the largest of the sectoral groups, and was the 2009 'CIPR Sectoral Group of the Year'.

Marketing communications is much more than the mere tactical process of promoting the elements of the marketing mix (price, place, product, promotion) – brands exist in the minds of consumers not only because of their experiences, products or services, but also because of the communications behind those products and services. This has never been truer than now. Through the Internet, citizens can now become journalists; stories can spread in mere seconds. Blogs, mashups, podcasts, RSS feeds, social networks, widgets and wikis have all become part of our daily lives without many of us even noticing it. The Web has fundamentally changed the realities of distributing information and therefore with this, the landscape of public relations practice and Marketing communications has also been transformed.

The Marketing Communications Group help members working in this diverse field gain the knowledge, experience and contacts necessary to apply best practice to both their careers and the wider PR profession. Through thought provoking seminars and meetings, to the production of best practice guidelines, the Group looks to excite those PR professional who aspire to the true integration of PR with other marketing disciplines.
