Local Government GroupLocal Government Group members work in or with local authorities throughout the UK. The Group promotes professional development through a programme linked to the ‘Developing Excellence’ scheme; runs awards schemes; promotes best practice and benchmarking standards; runs workshops and a hugely successful national conference; publishes ‘PR News’; and champions the cause of good communication throughout local government.
Marketing Communications GroupThis Group is of particular interest to any PR professional planning or working on public relations programmes which support marketing objectives, and which integrate all available channels of communication to the target audience. This desirable state of affairs is achieved less often than it should be – even by some very major players. More than half of all expenditure on PR today is said to be on marketing communications programmes, so few CIPR members can afford to ignore the discipline. The Group arranges a number of events each year, normally case studies of best practice in marketing communications, or discussions of the latest techniques.
Science, Technology and Engineering GroupA group for Science, Technology and Engineering communicators to meet and exchange information and extend contacts. Members of this group come from a wide spectrum of industry.
