About Al Jazeera English/Richard Gizbert
Al Jazeera English, the English language channel, launched in 2006 and Gizbert joined it from ABC News. Gizbert had his fair share of controversy when he won a dismissal case against ABC News, in which he argued that his refusal to accept war assignments, due to family commitments, led to his firing by the news channel. He was the first journalist to use health and safety laws to dispute dismissal.
