The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) is launching CIPR TV, a series of live shows featuring some of the profession's most engaging and experienced communicators, to discuss the issues of the day and share best practice. Hosted by CIPR members and Social Media Panel contributors Stephen Waddington and Philip Sheldrake, the shows will be interactive with viewers able to tweet questions and comments during the shows, using the hashtag #ciprtv.
In partnership with the team at markettiers4dc, the series will launch on 8 September with subsequent shows every three weeks. Practitioners are encouraged to get involved and suggest topics or guests for the shows.
In the coming weeks and months, CIPR TV will be speaking to a range of communicators, including:
- Paul Mylrea, Head of Press and Media Relations at the BBC, who will talk about reputation washing and, as the CIPR's President-Elect, his views on the profession's challenges in 2011
- Robert Phillips, CEO of Edelman UK, on the changing communications world and a new era of public engagement
- Mark Borkowski, MD of Borkowski, debating the differences between publicity and PR.
CIPR President Jay O'Connor comments:
With so much happening in PR – from the impact of social media, to pressure on public sector communications, new measurement standards and contentious issues such as reputation laundering – we want to bring together communicators to discuss and debate in a way that is social. If people find it of value, then we will build the series. Fundamentally, this is about the CIPR engaging in new ways, bringing people together and creating a platform to discuss the issues that impact PR people.
