We welcome any initiative that positively engages public and private sector organisations in improving transparency and equality of opportunity in access to careers, as these are the founding principles of the CIPR's approach to diversity.
The CIPR is about to restate its 'Work Placement Charter' as advice for organisations aiming to offer ethical internships and offer guidance to aspiring interns on the right questions to ask when they apply. Our Graduate Opportunity programme will be relaunched this summer. There are some excellent initiatives in the PR industry already - including the Taylor Bennett internship programme, the CIPR's Diversity Working Group and the PRCA's Access Commission.
However, the PR profession is part of a wider social landscape and there is a need to continue to address issues raised by questions of diversity and social mobility. We look forward to working with Government on what is a key area of social policy.
