The Women in PR Group, established in 1962, has decided to leave the CIPR and become an independent group once more.
The Group joined the CIPR in 2005 and have seen their membership grow as a result. However, as they are predominantly a group focusing on social events and networking they want the flexibility of operating independently rather than as part of a Chartered body. Whilst the Women in PR group will no longer be a CIPR sectoral group, CIPR members of a sectoral group remain members of the Institute, even if the group becomes independent. All Women in PR CIPR members (approximately 200) have been offered alternative sectoral groups and many are in the process of moving to a new group.
If you are a member of Women in PR and want more information about choosing another group, please get in touch with Karolina in our Membership Team at KarolinaF@cipr.co.uk
We would also like to highlight that our President-Elect, Paul Mylrea, has set up a diversity working group and is already looking into the questions of representation of women in senior positions within the profession. If you would like to know more or contribute to the work of the diversity group, please email Paul at pmylrea@gmail.com
