As the professional body for public relations, the CIPR is charged via its Royal Charter with ensuring that there is a solid research foundation in place for the future development of public relations practice. This is also reflected in the CIPR's mission.
To do this, the CIPR set up the Research and Development Unit in 2010, to spearhead the CIPR's research efforts. The Unit will:
- Set the research agenda for the Institute, working with other relevant national and international research bodies
- Make research (both CIPR research and research from other individuals and organisations) more easily accessible to CIPR members and those with an interest in public relations
- Carry out practice-relevant research in partnership with others, on its own initiative or in response to approaches from potential collaborators.
Members of the Research and Development Unit include:
- Dr Jon White FCIPR
- Dr Sandra Oliver FCIPR
- Dr Reginald Watts FCIPR and CIPR Past President
- Jay O'Connor FCIPR, Chartered PR Practitioner and CIPR Past President
- Roger Hayes FCIPR
If you are interested in the CIPR's research activities, please contact Andrew Ross, CIPR Policy & Communications Officer, at andrewr@cipr.co.uk.
