Training & qualifications

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations provides training and development opportunities for practitioners at all levels.

Training

To find out what's on and when, please check out our workshops by subject page or view the Events Calendar. CIPR training also includes breakfast briefings at junior and intermediate level, and tailored and bespoke training.

Webinars

Wherever you are in the UK or overseas, CIPR webinars provide a time- efficient and cost effective training solution. You can participate in the live sessions or view them on demand at a time that suits you. If you are a CIPR member, webinar participation is free of charge, alternatively for non-members of the CIPR, the cost is £30 + VAT. To find out what's on and when, please check out our programme.

CIPR qualifications

We offer the only industry-recognised PR qualifications at Foundation, Advanced Certificate and Diploma level plus specialist short courses in Internal Communication (certificate / diploma level), Public Affairs Diploma and Crisis (Response) Communication Diploma.

Note to course applicants: there is no need to apply for membership separately as the course application includes a membership component at a discounted rate (with the exception of the Foundation course).

Chartered Practitioner scheme

Senior professionals can apply for individual Chartered Practitioner status. The scheme assesses candidates against set criteria and breadth and depth of experience. The 2013 scheme is now open.

CIPR-recognised courses

We grant recognition to university courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level by assessing course content, teaching staff and monitoring annual performance.

CPD

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) enables CIPR members to maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge and skills and develop the personal qualities required for their PR careers.

The CPD year runs from 1 January to 31 December each year. Activities completed since 1 January 2013 can be recorded retrospectively to your account until 31 December 2013.

Each year you will need to record 60 points of CPD activity by signing in to the CIPR website and accessing the online CPD system. You record activity to your CPD account by selecting from predefined activities in our database or by creating your own self-defined activities, and evaluating their effectiveness.
