If you are in the first couple of years of your PR career and want to develop your core knowledge and skills, the CIPR Advanced Certificate is for you.
This course will provide you with a solid grounding in all of the key concepts, theories, techniques and skills that you need to become an effective PR practitioner.
This course counts towards CPD and becoming a CIPR Accredited Practitioner – the hallmark of your commitment to professional development.
On successful completion of this course, you can become a CIPR Associate member and will be eligible to progress your studies with the CIPR Diploma.
Who is the course aimed at?
This course is taught and assessed at level 5 of the UK (England, Wales and Northern Ireland) National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
The CIPR Advanced Certificate is suitable if you are a UK graduate (of any discipline) wishing to build a career in PR or if you have at least two years of PR work experience.
What will I learn?
The Advanced Certificate will cover topics including:
PR and its role in the organisation
PR and communication theory
PR planning and tactics
Writing skills
Media relations
Management skills and professional practice
Do I qualify to study the Advanced Certificate?
You will qualify for the CIPR Advanced Certificate if you have any one of the following:
CIPR Foundation Award
CIPR Internal Communication Certificate
any UK degree
two years' relevant full-time employment in public relations (or related sectors e.g. marketing, journalism) and five GCSEs grade C or above, one of which must be in the English Language.
In addition, those whose first language is not English must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the language - spoken and written - to an International Language Testing System (IELTS) band score of 7.0 or above or equivalent.
Please Note: If you are currently studying full time or working whilst studying part time towards another course either within the CIPR or externally your application may not be accepted.

How and where will I study?
- Face-to-face
The face-to-face course consists of approximately eight days class-based tuition. In addition, students are expected to spend approximately five to six hours a week on independent study over the duration of the course.
The Advanced Certificate is available at a number of study centres in the UK and overseas. - Online
The Online Advanced Certificate combines an interactive e-learning programme with two (optional) full days of lectures and workshops in central London.

How much does it cost?
Course fees vary according to study mode and study centre. Refer to your chosen study centre or view the Online Advanced Certificate page for more details.
In addition to the course fees specified, CIPR membership is a course requirement and costs £145 for a 15-month membership (three months more than a standard membership subscription).
The membership subscription form is incorporated in the course application.
