Introduction to event management

This workshop is designed for those who have a role in, or the opportunity to play a part in, organising events but who have limited experience in doing so. It will provide an initial, all-round grounding in managing a successful event.

Topics

  • an introduction to event management
  • developing an event strategy
  • the objectives and evaluation process
  • identifying target audiences
  • the event format and programme
  • financial management
  • the communications mix
  • celebrities and sponsorship
  • the event itself – do's and don'ts
  • the contingency plan.

Benefits to you and your organisation

Delegates will develop a clear understanding of the role and importance of events in the overall communications mix and will feel confident in organising large and small events in an individual or team environment.

Learning approach

A good balance of PowerPoint, practical exercises, group discussions and handouts.

Delegate feedback

Simon Hoggett, Hertfordshire County Council:

The general grounding in this subject was really useful and I took one or two things in particular away with me that will make a huge difference to the project management of my bike show next year.

Couldn't agree more. I firmly beielve that you yourself have to ensure you receive the CPD you need and when it's a case of requiring funding for it, to argue for it in the strongest possible terms it's too important not to.
