Award categories


Campaign awards

  1. Corporate Communications
    A corporate communications campaign that builds awareness and enhances company reputation.

  2. Financial PR and Investor Relations
    A PR campaign in support of a major initiative in either the retail, corporate or institutional financial markets – domestic or international.

  3. Internal Communications
    Communication with, or involvement of, employees designed to promote corporate objectives whether in the public or the private sector.

  4. Consumer Relations
    A campaign supporting the marketing of consumer products or services in all industries – including arts, sport, leisure and tourism.

  5. Public Sector 
    A campaign designed to promote the policies, achievements and services of a public sector organisation to its stakeholders. (Special reduced entry fee for public sector organisations).

  6. Business and Trade
    A campaign supporting the marketing of business-to-business products or services.

  7. Corporate Responsibility
    A campaign designed to support corporate values on community, social, ethical and reputation issues.

  8. Public Affairs
    A campaign designed to inform the public policy agenda or influence the legislative process.

  9. Not-for-Profit
    A campaign in the charitable and non-commercial sectors. (Special reduced entry fee for Not-for-Profit organisations).

  10. Planning, Research and Evaluation
    A campaign showing effective use of planning, research and evaluation techniques.

  11. Integrated Campaigns
    A campaign showing the integrated use of communications, including marketing, advertising and public relations techniques, to achieve its objectives.

  12. Media Relations
    A campaign that captured the imagination of targeted media and met client/project objectives.

  13. Best Use of Social Media
    A campaign utilising the web, pod casting and other aspects of new media to promote client/campaign objectives.

  14. International Public Relations
    A campaign covering more than one country, either based in the UK or originating overseas.

  15. Crisis Communications
    A campaign demonstrating how a crisis was successfully managed from a communications perspective.

  16. Broadcast
    A campaign that effectively used broadcast media to reach target audiences and achieve its objectives.

  17. Healthcare
    A campaign designed to promote a healthcare issue, product, service or initiative to its stakeholders.


Special Awards

  1. External Newspaper or Magazine
    A magazine or newspaper produced three times a year or more, aimed at an organisation’s external target audiences.

  2. Internal Newspaper or Magazine
    An in-house magazine or newspaper produced at least three times a year, aimed at an organisation’s employees.

  3. e-Newsletters and Magazines 
    A newsletter or magazine produced four or more times a year, aimed at an organisation’s internal or external audiences.

  4. Publication
    Any publication produced for an organisation’s stakeholders or shareholders. This could be an annual report, a leaflet, brochure, A-Z guide or a similar hard copy publication.

  5. Website or Microsite
    A website or microsite produced by an organisation in the public or private sector that successfully reflects its aims, objectives and culture, and interacts with stakeholders. No timescale applies to this category.

  6. Event
    Any event that meets its objectives and is delivered within budget and on time. This could be a conference, a product launch, a specialised dinner, an awards ceremony or any other event designed to meet a campaign objective.


Team & Individual Awards

  1. Outstanding Young Communicator 
    This award recognises the excellent work of young professionals in all areas of public relations, who make a valuable contribution to the organisations they work for and show considerable promise as future leaders of the industry. This category is for PR practitioners aged 30 and under on 29 February 2008, who are working full-time in public relations.

  2. Outstanding Small Consultancy 
    This award recognises excellent work by a small consultancy, i.e. no more than five people working together. (Special reduced entry fee)

  3. Outstanding In-House Public Relations Team

  4. Outstanding Public Relations Consultancy

  5. 60th Anniversary Awards
    To mark the CIPR’s 60th Anniversary, we have added the following new ‘By nomination only’ categories for 2008.

CIPR members are invited to make their nominations for these Awards on this website when available. No entry fee or criteria apply to nominations.
