Niche consultancy MD wins industry award

Pam Calvert, managing director of Hertfordshire-based reputation consultancy Communications Management, has been voted PR professional of the year in the Pride awards run by the Thames and Chiltern region of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

The Norman Manners PR Professional of the Year award was made by Crispin Manners, Chairman of the PRCA and son of Norman Manners, at a presentation on Thursday 24th February.

Pam founded the St Albans firm 18 years ago and now employs 18 people with a turnover of more than £1-million. The company specialises in working in the education, enterprise and employment sectors.

It is only the second time the award has been presented. Commenting on Pam’s award, the judges said “Pam Calvert is nationally respected for the work of her reputation consultancy, Communications Management, which has grown into the largest specialist company dealing in workplace issues, as well as a leader in the higher education market. Her company has won many awards, and now it is time for Pam herself to be recognised for the sheer professionalism of her work.”

Commenting on the accolade, Pam said “It is a great honour to receive the award from peers in the industry. I have been very fortunate in having tremendous encouragement in my career from friends, family, managers and colleagues. The company also employs a tremendously talented team without whose help we would not be achieving the success we have today.”
