Helping you to protect your clients’ reputations
How to use the law to protect your corporate reputation during a media

You know that your corporate brand and reputation are your biggest
assets, and that these can be destroyed overnight. Simon Smith, and
Rachel Atkins, Partners at the law firm Schillings, work with
communication professionals and use the law as a tool to prevent that
from happening. These legal tools can save your brand, share price, key
customer relationships, the careers of your directors and the investment
of your shareholders.

CIPR C+FG Speaker Lunch

C+FG Speaker Lunch - Speaker
Chris Blackhurst, City Editor, Evening Standard
Venue: City Marketing Suite, Basinghall Street, London EC2
12.30pm
Cost: £15 C+FG members; £20 Guests
For details of the CIPR Corporate + Financial Group's lunch time speaker
meetings, contact Sue Owen, 2 Greenways, Pembroke Road, Woking, Surrey
GU22 7DY Telephone: 01483 771932; Email
sueowen@corporate-financial.com
Chris has been City Editor of the Evening Standard since 2002, during
which time he has produced a series of notably trenchant opinion pieces
and memorable profiles of the city's movers and shakers, as well as
running a newsroom to deadlines invariably tighter than those of a
national daily 'paper.
After studying law at Cambridge, his first foray into journalism was
as Assistant Editor of Euromoney's International Financial Law Review.
From there he progressed through Business Magazine and the Sunday Times'
Insight team to become City Editor of the Sunday Express, before
undertaking a series of roles at Independent and Independent on Sunday,
covering business, politics and serving as Deputy Editor. Immediately
prior to joining the Evening Standard he was Deputy Editor of the Daily
Express and Sunday Express from 1998-2001.
Always readable, and often provocative, he was TSB Financial
Journalist of the Year in 1989 and has been highly commended for a
variety of other Press Awards.

CIPR C+FG
Speaker Lunch 13 June |
|
with speaker Ian King, Business Editor, The Sun Venue:
WestLB, Ground Floor Auditorium, Woolgate Exchange, 25 Basinghall
Street London EC2V 5HA
As Business Editor of The Sun, Ian King has one of the toughest
jobs in financial journalism.
Ponderous 'thinkpieces' are off-limits, ditto the arcane and
technical. Every day he picks the most prominent business stories,
distils them down to digestible length, and knocks them out in Sun
style. His achievements are widely recognised: he was awarded
"Business Journalist of the Year" at the 2005 UK Press Awards after
being nominated also in 2001 and 2002.
He has been at the Sun in his current job since 2000. Before that
he was senior financial correspondent at the Mail on Sunday, having
also been a city reporter/stock market correspondent on both The
Guardian and The Telegraph, where he started his journalistic career
in 1993 after four years with Midland Bank. Ian is a graduate of
Manchester University and has a postgraduate diploma from City
University.
This meeting will take place at 12.30pm (sandwich lunch will be
served) for 1 o'clock on 13 June 2006 at WestLB, Ground Floor
Auditorium, Woolgate Exchange, 25 Basinghall Street London EC2V 5HA.
Please note that it is not possible for us to accept reservations by
telephone. You must reply, with payment as soon as possible. If you
cannot draw a company cheque in time, please send a personal one.
Entry will be refused to those who have not paid by the due date.
Please note we do not issue confirmation of booking or invoices; if
a receipt is required it will be emailed.
For security reasons the name, position and company of your
guests must be completed. For details of the Corporate + Financial
Group's lunch time speaker meetings, and to book a place contact Sue

The Sound of Schmoozing or The Sound of Improving the State of
The World?
Time: 18.15 for 18.30 Start (Drinks at 19.30)
Cost: £15 members, £20 non-members
Joint event with The
CIPR
International Group and the Corporate + Financial Group
The Sound of Schmoozing or The Sound of Improving the State of
The World? with Mark Adams, Head of Communications, World Economic
Forum
The World Economic Forum is best known for its Annual Meeting in
the Swiss mountain resort of Davos. It describes itself as an
independent international organization committed to improving the
state of the world by engaging leaders in partnerships to shape
global, regional and industry agendas.
Many CEO's of the large corporations which you may represent will be
participating every year and we are all familiar with the immense
press coverage which echoes from the Swiss Alps every January.
Mark Adams, the World Economic Forum's Head of Communications, is
responsible for orchestrating most of the Davos sound. He will
explain how he communicates the organisation, but also how the Forum
manages to deal with the many competing egos. Or should we ask about
the dilemma of potentially competing intentions of the Forum and its
participants?
Even though he now has an office overlooking Lake Geneva, mark is
originally from Redhill, Surrey. Early in his career, he rose
through the ranks to edit the ITV Early Evening News before
relocating to France to be the editorial director at EuroNews.
Whatever questions you may bring to the evening, we expect a highly
interesting talk with Mark. And to make this even more appealing,
the event will take place at 30 St Mary Axe, aka 'the Gherkin' and
will conclude with the opportunity for some networking over drinks.
To book places at this event, please email
sueowen@corporate-financial.com and send a cheque made payable
