The aims and objectives of the Group are:

To communicate with members of the CIPR (in whatever category of membership) who work within the health and medical field.
To share, develop and promote best practice.
To organise meetings, conferences, seminars, training workshops and social events for the benefit of the groups’ members.
To promote the views and opinions of the members to the CIPR, drawing on members' expertise and to advise the CIPR on Group issues.
To promote the Health and Medical Group and the CIPR.
To recruit members to the CIPR.
To develop and promote the PR profession in the health and medical arena

10 July 2008		Group event with Colin Douglas, NHS Communications Director The CIPR Health & Medical Group invites you to a special evening with Colin Douglas - the newly appointed NHS Communications Director. Colin will be discussing the communications challenges facing the NHS in its 60th year and will then take questions from the floor. The meeting will take place at the riverside offices of NHS Direct and will be followed by an opportunity to socialise and network with colleagues. Drinks and nibbles will be served from 6.00p.m. and throughout the evening. We look forward to welcoming you. 12 November		Discussion event Venue: Westminster Suite, IBM SouthBank, 76 Upper Ground, London SE1 Time: 3pm A workshop, held in conjunction with the CIPR Fifth Estate Group and the Healthcare Coalition Initiative, to discuss and explore the impact of media stories on patients & patient groups. The workshop will explore practices, partnerships & processes with presentations from: Jacqui Thornton - former Health Editor of The Sun Vicki Trinder - Senior Communications Manager, Pfizer UK Helen Garner - Head of Communications, Parkinson's Disease Society. 9 July 2007		Joint Seminar With RCN Venue: RCN, 20 Cavendish Square, London W16 0RN followed by drinks at No. 5 Cavendish Square, London Time: RCN 2.45pm, No.5 from 6.30pm This was the first of hopefully many joint events with the RCN, who are now a formal partner of the CIPR Health & Medical Group. The seminar attracted over 60 people from various areas of the healthcare communications sector who heard from Peter Carter, RCN General Secretary, and Lynn Young and Matt Griffiths of the RCN, who provided evidence of the growing importance of nurse professionals in the delivery of healthcare and health education in the UK. They were followed by case study speakers from Chandler Chicco Agency and Norgine, who provided examples of recent successful joint health initiatives with the RCN. This event proved to be a great success and some interesting issues were discussed afterwards at the RCN and the evening social event.
