Membership grades

There are five grades of membership spanning the different levels of experience and qualifications in public relations.

• Member MCIPR
  There are several routes into full membership of the CIPR
   
• Associate ACIPR
  Open to practitioners with at least 3 years’ PR experience or a CIPR approved qualification
   
• Affiliate
  Open to practitioners with less than 3 years’ PR experience or those working in a related industry
   
• Student
  Open to those studying a CIPR approved qualification
   
• Affiliate Studying
  Open to those studying a PR qualification that is not CIPR approved
   
• Global Affiliate
  Open only to non-UK residents
   
• Fellow FCIPR
  Awarded in recognition of outstanding contribution to the Institute or the industry

Making your application

Applications will only be accepted at the correct grade so please read through the requirements for each grade carefully. All levels are open to UK applicants except for Global Affiliate membership. Membership of the Affiliate, Associate and Member levels is however also open to overseas practitioners.
