- Corporate Communications
A corporate communications campaign that builds awareness and enhances an organisation’s reputation
with its stakeholders.
- Not-for-Profit
A campaign in the charitable and non-commercial sectors that has successfully communicated its
message and met objectives. (Special reduced entry fee for not-for-profit organisations).
- Internal Communications
A campaign that successfully targets and promotes corporate objectives to employees within an
organisation.
- Crisis Communications
A campaign demonstrating how a crisis was successfully managed from a communications perspective.
- Business and Trade
A campaign supporting the marketing of business-to-business products or services.
- Community Relations
A campaign that demonstrates how a PR or communications initiative has successfully dealt with
community issues, achieving mutual benefit.
- Public Affairs NEW
A campaign designed to inform the public policy agenda or influence the legislative process.
- Public Sector
A campaign designed to promote the policies, achievements and services of a public sector organisation
to its stakeholders.
- Low Budget
A successful PR campaign that has been undertaken in any sector for under £10,000.
- Consumer Relations
A campaign supporting the marketing of consumer products or services.
- Best Use of Media Relations
A campaign that has captured the imagination of targeted media and met client/project objectives.
- Integrated Communications
A campaign showing the integrated use of communications, including marketing, advertising and
public relations techniques, to achieve its objectives.
- Corporate Responsibility
A campaign designed to support corporate values on social, ethical and reputation issues.
- Best Use of New Media
A campaign that successfully uses the web, podcasts, blogs, wikis and other aspects of new/social
media to promote client/campaign objectives.
Special Awards
- Best Use of Photography or Design
Entries should demonstrate how a photograph, a series of photographs or design work has successfully
played its part and contributed to a public relations campaign.
- Best Newspaper or Magazine
An internal or external magazine or newspaper produced three times a year or more, aimed at an
organisation’s target audience.
- Best Publication
Entries can include multi-page publications such as an Annual Report or Review, an A-Z of services
or a one-off publication on a specific topic, service or organisation. This category excludes
newspapers and magazines.
- Best Leaflet
A publication that has been well written and designed and has successfully
met its objectives. The definition of a leaflet is one continuous piece of unstapled paper, irrespective
of size and how many times it is folded.
- Best Website or Microsite
This award is for a website or microsite produced by an organisation in the public or private
sector that successfully reflects its aims, objectives and culture, and interacts and communicates
with stakeholders.
- Best Event NEW
Any event that meets its objectives and is delivered within budget and on time. This could be
a conference, a product launch, a specialised dinner, an awards ceremony or any other event
designed to meet a campaign objective.
Team and Individual Awards
- Outstanding Young Communicator
This award recognises the excellent work of young professionals in all areas of public relations,
who make a valuable contribution to the companies they work for and show considerable promise
as future leaders of the industry. This category is for PR practitioners aged 30 and under
on 4 July 2008, who are working full-time in public relations. In Scotland this Award will
also include the Hamp Hamilton Trophy, a cheque for £250 and attendance at a CIPR training
course.
- Outstanding Small Consultancy
This award recognises excellent work by a small consultancy i.e. no more than five people working
together. (Special reduced entry fee).
- Outstanding In-House Public Relations Team
This award recognises excellent work by an in-house team over a period of up to three years.
The entry can include examples of successful campaigns, as well as details of how PR is valued
within the organisation i.e., PR team/staff expansion, increased budgets, staff training and
retention etc.
- Outstanding Public Relations Consultancy
This award recognises excellent work by a PR consultancy over a period of up to three years.
The entry can include examples of successful campaigns as well as account gains, staff development
programmes etc.
- The Scottish Public Sector Team of the Year
In Scotland, an additional award will be made to the public sector team of the year, designed
to reflect the high proportion of PR professionals working in the public sector. Entrants should
provide an overview of activity from the last twelve months, including professional developments
and initiatives that best depict the team and their personalities.
