I can never get enough of ‘Le champagne’ the drink (and I’m partial to some North American and New Zealand sparklers too) but ‘La Champagne’ is all to often a piece of countryside even Francophiles race through to sunnier climes south. So it’s good to be reminded of the delights of countryside, history and cuisine to be found in the region of Reims, Epernay and Sezanne (my own favourite).

CIPR Fellow Nick Mendes, writing as Phillipe Boucheron, has produced a regional guide that is comprehensive, witty and, when digressing to the wine itself, informative and unpretentious. The greatest compliment is that he has already inspired me to plan my first 2006 short break – to drink ‘Le champagne’ in ‘La Champagne’ of course…

How to order this title

Generously, Nick will donate £5 from every book sold through the CIPR to Iprovision, the Institute’s Benevolent Fund.

Simply send to Emma Hamilton at CIPR a cheque for £18.99 for each book made payable to Iprovision, with ‘Champagne book’ and your address on a covering note or the reverse of the cheque – we will pass on orders and the balance of money to Nick to handle the orders personally.
