The CIPR is seeking Board volunteers for 2024 / 2025

Board members

We are seeking three new members to join the CIPR’s Board of Directors, which has legal responsibility for the governance of the Institute.

There are 11 seats on the Board, of which three are open for election this year. Members elected will serve a two-year term from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2025.

The choice of who will serve as a Director is made by our 2023 Council  who will vote when they meet on 7 December 2023.

To stand for election for the Board you don’t need to have served as a director, trustee or in a similar role before.  If you need training in the role of director, we will provide this for you.

What you need is an ability to provide leadership on the major issues facing the CIPR over the next two years:

  • Identifying risks facing the organisation, and strategies for managing these challenges.
  • Determining best way to allocate resources to achieve the CIPR’s strategic  and Charter goals.
  • Reforming the CIPR Governance to make it more inclusive and representative of our members, meeting the National Equality Standard.
  • Shaping the future of CIPR as we start to develop the 2025-29 strategy.

In addition, Board members have responsibility for approving the annual accounts, the annual workplan and ensuring that the management team is delivering on the agreed strategy and operational plan. If you are able to bring perspectives from different kinds of organisations – PR agencies, in-house roles, or as a freelance consultant – across the breadth of roles and areas of expertise that our industry covers, this would be especially welcome.

To serve on the CIPR Board you do not need to be a Council member, but you do need a serving member of Council to propose you, and you need to be completing CIPR CPD. Please note that if you do not currently know a member of Council but still feel able to contribute to Board, kindly contact us and highlight that. We want to accommodate talented people who want to volunteer if possible.

Applications are now closed (Monday 13 November 5pm) and candidates will be contacted shortly.
