The 3P Workshop Series: Probe, Premise and Practice

CIPR NE – bridging the theory and PR practice divide

*Member-only Event*

Who:  CIPR North East invite you to a set of workshops to help co-create a set of knowledge ‘workbooks’ that underpin contemporary PR. These will be used to support and grow CPD in the region and beyond.

What:  All of us who work in practice are actively using theories even though in some cases we don’t always appreciate there is a premise that embodies what we often take for granted.  These events intend to probe these theories helping to make the invisible visible by showcasing how practical a good theory is and suggesting new theories and adaptions. Drawing from psychology, sociology, communications, and organisational studies we want to shout about the rich knowledge base that supports what we do.  The workshops are facilitated by CIPR committee member, Dr Sarah Bowman, Northumbria University.  Sarah will theme each session around some theories/ideas to stimulate conversation then it’s over to the group to unpick and re-build!

Why: Let’s give visibility to the talents that PR and communications people bring to our organisations and dispel the myth that there is a divide between theory and practice by working much closer together.  Practitioners are researchers in the field. Let’s co-create something fresh and relevant.

When:  Time: 8.00-10.00am - breakfast provided. Dates: Thursday 15 September; Thursday 6 October; Thursday 3 November. Come along to one or all three of these breakfast workshops.  Location: Gosforth.  Newcastle.

Please note places are limited. You need to register for each event and complete this brief questionnaire before receiving confirmation of your place, https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/NC2R28C
