How can communication professionals communicate with people and groups who have limited or no access to the internet or are seldom online?

The CIPR’s Not-for-Profit Sector Group are holding a lunchtime panel event on Tuesday 19th July from 12pm to 1pm on tackling the challenges of communicating across the digital divide:

- Learn more about the groups that re most affected by not being able to regularly get online. These include older people, those on a low income, families with English as a second language and particular religious groups.
- Find out how the digital divide intensified during the pandemic and what it means for communications professionals.
- Hear from speakers on the challenges of, and best practice in, communicating with people who faces issues with digital access and literacy. 
- Take away recommendations to implement changes in your own work.

Confirmed speakers

Jo Parry, Head of Campaigns and Strategic Communications, Office for National Statistics. Jo will speak about her work on the Census 2021 to make it accessible and inclusive to reach people offline and will share information on how we can access Census data to inform our work.

Anna Osborne, Head of Marketing and Communications, Good Things Foundation. Anna will talk about the 'Nobody in the Dark' campaign with Mastercard and Lloyds Banking Group to offer immediate support to digitally and financially excluded people during the pandemic. 

Polly Cziok, Strategic Director, Engagement, Culture, and Organisational Development at the London Borough of Hackney. Polly will describe how the council engaged with hard-to-reach groups during the pandemic, with some surprising findings. 

Jess Tobin, Information Services Manager, Alzheimer's Research UK
