The Social Sessions

The Social Sessions

The Social Sessions
Networking, Yorkshire, Leeds,
The Social Sessions are a chance to meet and catch-up with your peers in the PR profession - with added cake and flowing tea and coffee! Whether you work in-house, in an agency or as an independent practitioner, these informal sessions offer a supportive network outside of your daily roles.

This time we’ll also be hearing from Sara Thornhurst Chart.PR, Yorkshire & Lincolnshire CIPR Committee Chair. Sara is a disabled PR practitioner and trainer who ran her own agency for several years. She has been a visiting lecturer in digital marketing at Leeds Trinity University and was cited as one of the Shaw Trust’s top 100 influential people with a disability in 2018. Sara has spoken on disability inclusion, accessibility and diversity issues at multiple industry events and runs training sessions and workshops for agencies and PR events.

It’s a timely opportunity to get together, following on from the publication of the CIPR’s State of the Profession 2021/22 report which revealed that PR practitioners anticipate mental health to be their top challenge over the next year. The survey also highlighted that working hours have heightened at all levels within organisations and that the gender pay gap has increased.

Sara will talk about the importance of supporting wellbeing right across the profession against a backdrop of these conflicting issues. She will share some of her top tips to support mental health and wellbeing, as well as her view of what’s to come over the next 12 months.

We have the space booked out 10am-12noon for The Social Sessions and all attendees are also very welcome to co-work for the remainder of the day (8.30am-5.30pm). Now that the world has started to return to some sort of normality, we think the value of collaboration, professional connections and teamwork can never be overstated!

Places are limited, so please book early to secure your place. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements. We hope you’re free to join us for what we hope will be a great start to your Friday morning!
