Aim of the session

To share the positive impact a robust internal communications strategy has on people, culture and trust and drives successes of organisational objectives.

The speaker

As Head of Internal Communications at Great Western Railway, Rhian Moore leads engaging storytelling to win hearts and minds of colleagues, making sure everyone understands the part they play to deliver a great experience for customers who travel with them.

With a degree in Public Relations and member of the CIPR since 2000, Rhian moved into internal communication when she joined Tata Steel and worked alongside McKinsey through the 2018 business and steel crisis. She spent eight years before that as Head of Corporate Communications with Dyfed Powys Police where she led the integrated communications response to several high-profile crisis communications cases, including the murder and abduction of April Jones in 2012.

Before that Rhian worked in local government in South Wales in a range of communication roles from PR and Marketing Manager to Head of Media. Since 2018, Rhian is the lead volunteer for the Scouts in Wales looking after 18,800 members and supporting young people with skills for life for an amazing future.

With passion for her profession and desire to support people to be amazing, Rhian volunteers with the CIPR and was on the Committee in Wales for 20 years and is now a member of UK CIPR Council. She is also a qualified Executive Coach and Mentor and supports people to reach their potential in work and in life.

In 2022 Rhian was made a Fellow of the CIPR and also received the Meritorious Conduct medal from the Scouts for exceptionally high standard of dedication and courage though difficulty. In 2023 Rhian was awarded the Sir Stephen Tallants’ medal for outstanding contribution to the PR industry in the UK.
