PR Book Club with Crisis Comms Professional Amanda Coleman
The CIPR North East PR Book Club returns this Autumn with award-winning author Amanda Coleman in discussion about her book "Everyday Communication Strategies".

"There is no inevitability that a problem will grow to become a serious issue for the business. The right action at the right time and in the right place can manage the situation and allow plans to be implemented that bring it to a satisfactory conclusion.”

How can organisations protect their reputation? How can they maintain public confidence while managing everyday issues and risks? How can they prevent risks and incidents from escalating into a corporate crisis?

Those are only some of the questions "Everyday Communication Strategies" addresses to help PR professionals and their organisations get issues management right and prevent them from turning into a crisis that can threaten their businesses.

A prequel to" Crisis Communication Strategies (2020, 2023),"  "Everyday Communication Strategies (2022)" is a must-have guide with pragmatic tips, detailed checklists, flowcharts and contemporary case studies, showing how everyday issues ranging from customer complaints, campaign failure, or online criticism can be effectively contained. The book explores how to develop robust issue monitoring systems, response structure, key messages, media relations strategies, and proactive social media management plans to prevent any emerging issues from escalating into crises that can destabilise a business and damage stakeholder confidence.

A renowned crisis communication consultant and a fellow of the CIPR and PRCA, Amanda will discuss her pragmatic approaches to issues management and crisis prevention in conversation with Ramona Slusarczyk, a lecturer in Public Relations at Newcastle University.

With over twenty years of experience in managing crises and issues, Amanda Coleman is a highly sought international conference speaker, she has been involved in European studies of crisis communication, law enforcement and social media crisis usage, and acts as an advisor to several organisations dedicated to crisis and risk communication.

In the not-so-distant past, and as a Head of Corporate Communications for Greater Manchester Police, Amanda managed many significant crises, including the Manchester Arena terrorist attack that took place in 2017.

Attendees  will receive a voucher for a free drink.
