CIPR’s vision and volunteer engagement
The CIPR’s 5-year strategy outlines our goals and the steps we will take to achieve them, focusing on strengthening and future-proofing the public relations profession. This strategy is backed by a governance structure designed to ensure we operate effectively and efficiently. You can learn more about our structure and leadership by exploring the Our People page, as well as our four arm’s length areas of operation.
In 2022, staff and volunteers collaborated to define our core values, which guide everything we do. Building on this, our first Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Strategy was launched in 2023, further shaping how we work and how we engage with the wider PR community.
How you fit into the CIPR as a volunteer
The CIPR is a fantastic place to volunteer, and our volunteers are at the heart of our operations. As a volunteer, you’ll play a key role in shaping and enhancing the CIPR experience for our members across the UK and internationally. With over 350 active volunteers, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the success of regional, national, international, and special interest groups, networks, and panels.
By volunteering, you’ll help drive forward our vision of a predominantly chartered PR profession that is stronger, more respected, and resilient. Our volunteers help create a meaningful membership experience, empowering individuals to advance their careers, support clients, expand their knowledge, and tackle global challenges.
The CIPR’s strategy and annual Council reviews ensure that we remain aligned with the evolving needs of our members, continually developing our activities based on feedback and strategic goals. You can find out more about our 5-year strategy and our long-term goals here.
Together, we’re building a future-ready profession - one that values knowledge, expertise, and global impact.
