Entry Criteria by grade

Student:

Open to students in full-time further or higher education

• Student membership costs £40 per annum
• Student grade membership is not available to those studying a CIPR qualification. Those studying on a CIPR qualification automatically receive Professional Student membership when they enrol.

Affiliate:

• Not currently working in PR but interested in the public relations profession.
  
  

Global Affiliate:

• This is a non-professional online-only membership for non UK residents working in or interested in PR. It includes access to all our online resources and free membership of the CIPR International group. It does not include a membership certificate, designatory letters or logos, or accreditation opportunities.

Professional Student:

This special category of membership is open only to those who are studying a CIPR professional qualification. Membership is automatically issued to students upon on enrolling on a qualification and is included with the cost of studying.

Associate (ACIPR):

Open to UK or international PR professionals who:

• Are working in or teaching PR with up to two years' PR experience or
• Have graduated from the Professional PR Certificate or
• Have graduated from a CIPR-recognised course or
• Have previously held CIPR Student membership.
  
  

Member (MCIPR):

Open to UK or international PR professionals who:

• Are working in or teaching PR with more than two years' PR experience or
• Have graduated from the Professional PR Diploma or
• Have graduated from the Professional PR Certificate with at least one year of PR experience or
• Have graduated from a CIPR-recognised course with at least one year of PR experience
  
  

Fellow (FCIPR):

Open to existing members by nomination only

• Awarded by the Institute to existing Members (MCIPR) in recognition of a significant contribution to the Institute or the profession.
  
  

What counts as public relations / communications experience?

If you are currently working in PR and have more than two years' experience in one of the related disciplines such as journalism or marketing, we accept that as “communications related experience”. Therefore we deem that you have worked in PR for more than two years and therefore qualify for Member (MCIPR) grade.
