Course aim

This practical course introduces PR professionals to the world of web programming through coding, using HTML, CSS and interaction with JavaScript. You’ll be equipped with the knowledge and skills to work in ‘back end’ by understanding PHP language, which is used in WordPress.  You’ll get the chance to create a simple, dynamic website and familiarise yourself with web hosting and domain names.

Who should attend?
Anyone eager to understand the basics of web development. If you’re interested in how to build a simple text website, add meaning with HTML, presentation with CSS, and interaction with JavaScript – this course is for you.

  • make your page engaging with CSS and JavaScript
  • write your first script
  • learn about PHP and build a page ‘on the fly’ with PHP
  • find out how WordPress works
  • write your first script and host your website
  • use the cloud with Amazon, Google, and more
  • the importance of security, backups, redundancy
  • point a domain name at your website with DNS
