Sue Wolstenholme runs a full service public relations consultancy - Ashley Public Relations with an event management subsidiary.
Sue has worked as a PR consultant since 1985. She worked as the director of communication for the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust for nine years and was retained by the South West Peninsula Health Authority to devise and lead their communication strategy just prior to reorganisation. She was been appointed to be an Associate of the Post Office to advise on corporate social responsibility issues for six years.
For six years, Sue led a BA in public relations, awarded by the University of Exeter and directed an MA in European PR across six countries, including partners at the Sorbonne in Paris and the Berlin Free University. For the then Institute of Public Relations she devised and established post graduate certificates and diploma courses to help with the development of the PR professional. She has served as the chair of the professional development committee, for the now Chartered Institute's qualifications and is the course leader for the CIPR Centre for Learning.
Her recent work includes being strategic communication adviser to the Objective One Partnership (a European funding body) raising professional standards of senior PR practitioners in a number of countries and promoting waste management issues in Cornwall, by SITA Suez.
She has devised and leads a three-day course for chief executives and board members called the CIPR Certificate of Leadership for Reputation, which has been running successfully for principals with the Association of Colleges and has involved over 120 delegates to date.
Sue has a number of publications in her name, was made a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations in 1998 for services towards developing the profession and was given the Chartered Practitioner Award in 2010. She has an MSc in Public Relations and has supervised PhDs on the subject for the University of Exeter.
