PR Director of the Year 2012: Emma Leech

The CIPR IoD PR Director of the Year award for 2012 was awarded to Emma Leech, Director of Communications and Marketing at The University of Nottingham.

Emma has been Director of Communications and Marketing at the University of Nottingham since September 2009 and was previously Director of Marketing, Communications and Development at Manchester Metropolitan University. She is Chair of the CIM HE Members' Interest Group, a member of CIM's Senate, a former Chair of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations Education and Skills Group, and is a current member of the Chartered Management Institute's Marketing and Policy Development Committee.

Emma has specialised in HE marketing and communications for almost 14 years and has worked in PR and marketing for 23 years. A Chartered Marketer and a Chartered PR Practitioner, she has won a string of awards for her work across a range of marketing and PR specialisms. She has an MBA and holds a range of marketing, PR and management qualifications.

She had this to say in response to receiving her award:

Winning this prestigious award was a major boost - both to me personally and to the team at Nottingham who made it happen. The CIPR/IOD panel interview was detailed, probing and exceptionally rigorous - a great experience in itself. The project was stretching and challenging. In putting together my submission, I had chance to reflect on how far we have come and how valuable senior support was in our success.
