Di was formerly Managing Director of Cicada Communications, which she founded in 1987. She advised at board level on leader communication and reputation management for a range of blue chip organisations, including Jaguar Landrover. In 2014, Di was Interim Head of Communications for North Yorkshire Police for seven months.

For 16 years she directed the MA in Public Communication programme for the Government Communication Network (GCN) at Leeds Trinity University College. Di is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.

As an industry expert, she has worked at 10 Downing Street and the Cabinet Office, and is a regular speaker at national conferences. Di is a member of the Cabinet Office Communications Review team, is a member of London's Reform Club and Yorkshire's Two Percent Club, and is listed in PR Week's Power List of the most influential people in public relations.

She has attended Harvard Business School, is a Yorkshire Patron, and a trustee of Harrogate Theatre.

As an industry expert, Di has worked at 10 Downing Street and the Cabinet Office, and is a regular speaker at national and international conferences. Di is an external advisor for the London College of Communication, and judges the annual CIPR Excellence Awards, PR Week Awards and Fresh PR Awards.

Di has attended Harvard Business School and sits on a number of advisory boards.
