Magnus is a former broadcast journalist. He works in the UK and abroad as a trainer and consultant in message development, issues and crisis management and reputation management. He regularly runs crisis simulations for clients including transport operators, utilities, charities, housing associations and educational institutions. He is an approved speaker for the Academy for Chief Executives and tutors at Ashridge Business School.

Magnus began his career in newspapers, first with the Newcastle Evening Chronicle, later as a freelance for national newspapers. Moving into broadcasting, he was Intake Editor of Independent Radio News, a correspondent at Thames TV, and Group Head of News GWR Radio. For several years he taught on the postgraduate Broadcast Journalism Diploma at the University of the West of England, where he is now an Associate of Bristol Business School.  He is the author of Handling the Media!
