This workshop will explore the strategic use of social media in lobbying and campaigning within public affairs and guide participants to plan lobbying activities including social media within best practice. Suitable for both those who are new to public affairs and more experienced practitioners who wish to expand their understanding, there will be a mixture of lecture, case study and hands-on practical exercises.
If you want to be able to identify key social media platforms and their potential uses; understand the role that social media can play within lobbying and public affairs work; and learn about key social media evaluation and measurement techniques, then this is the session for you.
The session will be led by Grant Thoms MCIPR. Grant is an Accredited Practitioner and part-time Lecturer in Public Relations at Edinburgh Napier University. Grant is a freelance public affairs and political consultant with a decade of experience in political campaigning for the Scottish National Party, Friends of the Earth Scotland and several community-based organisations.
