Application criteria

To be eligible for a new application for Chartered PR Practitioner status, you can take any of the routes below, as long as you satisfy the relevant criteria.

Experience route

Full Member or Fellow of the CIPR (MCIPR or FCIPR) and all of the below:

  • you are a full CIPR member (MCIPR), currently recording CPD on the CIPR scheme AND
  • you have completed two consecutive or four non-consecutive years of CIPR CPD, including the year immediately before the one in which you are applying to become Chartered OR
  • you have completed the equivalent amount of CPD under a scheme recognised by the CIPR.

Academic route

Full Member or Fellow of the CIPR (MCIPR or FCIPR) with CIPR Diploma or Masters Degree (or equivalent course recognised by us) and all of the below:

  • you are a full CIPR member (MCIPR), currently recording CPD on the CIPR scheme AND
  • you have completed three consecutive or five non-consecutive years of CIPR CPD, including the year immediately before the one in which you are applying to become Chartered OR
  • you have completed the equivalent amount of CPD under a scheme, recognised by the CIPR.

Overseas route

If you're a member of another relevant professional body based overseas, e.g. MEPRA, please email Sukhjit Grewal. We'll expect you to satisfy the below criteria:

  • currently registered for CPD with the professional body
  • finished at least 3 consecutive or 5 non-consecutive years of CPD with the professional body, including the year immediately before that in which your application is submitted.
