Clone of Why is internal communication important?

The Channel Islands group of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations is delighted to welcome Jenni Field to the islands to run a session dedicated to the value of internal communication.

Jenni is currently chair of CIPR Inside and was named as one of the Institute of Internal Communication’s 30 under 30 in 2012. She has more than a decade of experience in creating and implementing internal communication plans for global companies.

Organisations need to communicate effectively with their employees and many often don’t, or do it badly. As an organisation grows, adding in other offices and potentially other jurisdictions so the challenge of keeping employees up to date becomes increasingly complex.

Internal communications has multiple benefits from ensuring that employees know what is expected of them and what is happening within the organisation through to ensuring employee engagement with overall business objectives. Without a clear internal communication strategy and plan, employees views and opinions about the company, management, board, products and services, values and ethos will differ and become distorted making it almost impossible for external communication to be effective.

Research has shown that higher levels of employee engagement can lead to increased productivity and lower turnover and absenteeism.

The seminar will look at the value of internal communications and how it can transform organisations. Delegates will learn more about the planning and management of an internal communication strategy, the fit between internal and external communication and the use of technology and social media.

The course is aimed at HR professionals and those working in PR and marketing.
