What does responsible AI adoption actually look like for a not-for-profit organisation?
Most not-for-profit organisations have now experimented with AI and our challenge now is to consider beyond individual use to our organisational capability, and how this strengthens our impact, protects trust, and supports our mission delivery.
As part of the CIPR Not-for-Profit AI Growth event series, this event explores how organisations can integrate AI. We discuss what AI literacy looks like across teams, the governance needed to manage risk and opportunity, and the crucial role communications professionals can play in shaping organisational conversations about AI.
Join a panel of leading experts as they examine how not-for-profits can develop the capability, culture and oversight needed to use AI with confidence and purpose.
The discussion is chaired by CIPR Not-for-Profit Committee member Di Garfield and features:
Dr Clea Bourne from Goldsmiths University of London, whose current research looks at the impact of AI, social justice considerations and the role the PR industry plays in this. Clea is the author of Public Relations and the Digital: Professional Discourse and Change (2022), co-editor of the Sage Handbook of Promotional Culture and Society (2025), and has published widely in journals such as AI and Ethics, Journal of Marketing Management, Public Relations Inquiry, and New Media and Society. Clea is also an Associate Editor of the journals Economy and Society, and AI and Society.
Frank Dias, lead author of CIPR Inside's new AI and Digital Ethics for Communicators: A Practical Playbook. This guide helps CIPR members spot ethical risks early, ask better questions, and provides a lightweight governance kit. He is also founder of the start-up Ai x Comms Lab that helps teams become AI-empowered, with people at the centre, ensuring they don't become AI-dependent.
Antony Mayfield, CEO and co-founder of Brilliant Noise. Antony has pioneered the development of AI-powered tools and organisational approaches that reflect his belief that "AI is unstoppable, but it is shapeable." He brings extensive experience helping organisations harness AI for positive transformation, alongside a strong track record in the charity sector, including seven years as Chair of the digital arts charity Lighthouse.
Following the one-hour panel discussion, attendees can join an optional 30-minute Q&A session to explore practical challenges and questions in greater depth.
